Hart Fenton & Company were commissioned to find a solution to the transfer of personnel from a Windcat back on to the Cable Ship Sovereign. Using the logic that the Windcat would be deploying technicians to the turbines, either directly off the fore deck of the Windcat or by a Houlder Turbine Access System (TAS), the weather window for the Windcat to Ship transfer should be the same.  It was therefore decided to use a configuration similar to that used on the transition pieces of the turbines.

The arrangement proposed, built and installed on either side of the CS Sovereign can be seen to be a replication of the fender bars and ladder of that used on the transition pieces, however in this case the ladder and fendering are able to be raised for transit of the vessel and berthing. The new arrangement gives protection to the ship side from the berthing windcat and in addition provides an installation which the technicians are familiar with thus maintaining the same levels of safety to that of the transfer at the turbine.
