Building on their expertise in the complex issues surrounding the distribution of LNG for shipping operations, Hart Fenton & Company have identified a need for the development of specialist vessels to fulfil a fundamental role in the supply chain.

Hart Fenton's R&D project will develop a concept for an LNG bunker vessel and, in association with iTransfer, will identify & promote recommendations to develop the necessary infrastructure and supply chains to allow LNG fuelled ferries to become viable and sustainable operations.

The double-hulled vessel would be compliant with the International Gas Code and scalable in design to allow ships of varying capacities to be built.  This will ensure maximum flexibility and compatibility with the range of European terminals and vessel types.  Its propulsion system will be configured for the optimum manoeuvrability required when carrying out fuelling operations.
